workshop is for anyone who wants to build their own collection
of inexpensive, nesting drums that look and sound great, that
stack neatly inside each other and travel well. Build a sturdy,
colourful mallet as well.
Learn how to make a Sonotubano drum, and we provide you with
everything you need to make your own drum and mallet! Printed
drum-making instructions provided to each participant.

THERAPEUTIC DRUMMING (Drumming with Special Populations)
This workshop was designed for people who want to explore
the therapeutic benefits of  drumming
with others. Ideal for drum circle facilitators, recreational
and music therapists, teachers of children with special needs
and at-risk youth; people who live and work with seniors,
from the well-elderly to those with Alzheimer's, aphasia,
etc. and anyone in healing work.
The session will include a seminar presentation which will
cover the following topics (and more):

- What is therapeutic drumming?
- Drumming for special populations, inc. seniors,
at-risk youth, Alzheimer, Aphasia, etc.
- Step-by-step program for therapeutic drumming
- Modified percussion instruments for seniors, physical
challenges, etc.
You'll also have a hands-on opportunity to practice
facilitation techniques, role play typical therapeutic
situations, and to hone your skills.
All instruments and materials for the workshop provided
by Diana's Drum; a printed manual will
be provided to each participant.
