FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Eclectic Café returns to Carnegie Hall
On Saturday, June 24, the Eclectic Café, a family-friendly
coffee-house event, brings together an array of local talent for
one night of amazing entertainment.
The Diana's Drum drum students have been working
hard this spring, and now - they're ready to rock! A group of adults
and youth from Mount Forest, Kenilworth, Elora and surrounding area
will join Raw Bone Rhythms
(RBR), a local women's drum group. RBR has played charity events
in Mount Forest and area for over five years, most recently contributing
to Habitat for Humanity's "Hearts for Habitat"
Valentine's Fund-Raiser in 2006.
If you've ever heard Elizabeth Zetlin, who hails from Markham,
Ontario, recite poetry, you know that poetry is anything but dry
and dusty. Perfect for a sultry June night, Liz's poetry is full
of juice and the joy of life. "Elizabeth Zetlin's poetry
[is]
at once passionate and compassionate, [and] a delight for eyes,
ears and sensory appetite" (Olive Senior, winner of the Commonwealth
Writers Prize). Zetlin's latest poetry collection is, The Thing
With Feathers (BuschekBooks).
Treating the audience to African and Middle Eastern rhythms,
Raw Bone Rhythms and
their special guests, the Diana's Drum drum students, will get you
dancing!
Poet Daniel Kolos' résumé picks up on the Middle-Eastern
thread. Before his poetry career, Daniel produced radio documentaries
on ancient Egypt and the Biblical world for CBC Ideas, and deciphered
the sacred ritual inscriptions of the Tutankhamun Exhibit treasures
into English. Daniel, who lives in Priceville, will share readings
from his published and as yet unpublished works.
Musicians Dan Ferguson and Mark Dahm from Brantford, Ontario, will
round off the evening with their ambient improvisational music.
Finally, everyone is welcome to join our performers in a community
drum jam - open to all, no musical experience required!
Please join us in celebrating our local talent on Saturday, June
24 at 7:00 p.m. in Carnegie Hall (basement of the Mount Forest Public
Library, just North of the Old Roxy Theatre). You'll be glad you
did.
