Cultural Kaleidoscope

Suggested length of program*: Four sessions (a "session" is one school period)

This workshop introduces a wide variety of basic rhythms and playing techniques, based on African, Latin-American and Middle Eastern rhythms. All drums and percussion instruments are provided by Diana's Drum.

The course focuses on:
- basic playing techniques (how to hold and play the drum)
- cultural context of drumming
- ensemble playing
- how rhythms work together

The participants benefit by:
- building self-confidence
- practicing trust and cooperation
- exposure to community drumming and world music
- creating fun and magic together!
