Zoë Kessler's workshops at our Montessori School were
fantastic!
She was able to enthuse and involve even the youngest participants
(toddlers) who were able to "shake their shakers high."
Our two classes of 3 to 5 year olds all had a chance to use the
djembes, "sonotubanos"
or shakers, and our grade 1-3 class managed to create polythythms!
We have recently purchased djembes for the school, and this was
a great introduction to the excitement and variety of rhythms available
on this instrument.
In response, our principal has asked a local drum circle member
to run a drum club on Mondays after school, I am doing a drum and
chant introduction to our Christmas concert, and we will also use
the djembes in our Senior Kindergarten Rhythm Band entry in the
Music Festival.
Mrs. Gadziola, the assistant Music teacher, is enrollilng her children
in drumming and together we plan to keep the drum energy rolling!
Thanks again,
